Ask a Question

Is there any protection on Altivar 71 drive when motor is in stall position.

When the motor is stall, it is really critical for drive, because it wants to force the motor to run, and as the rotor does not move, the drive increases the motor current without any limit (internal current loop) to try to turn the rotor. The motor current reaches the hardware LIC protection (2 x root2 x In) or short circuit protection and then trips in OCF (after 100ms) or SCF1 fault (after a few microseconds). These protections are not adjustable.
