Why are XPE foot switches only available with quick-break contacts whereas older models were available with slow-break contacts?

For many years it was not possible to comply with the rules on positive opening using quick-break contacts. For this reason products were designed with dependent action (slow break) contacts. Today, quick-break contacts comply with the positive opening principle and the use of dependent action contacts is no longer compulsory: With quick-break contacts, the change in electrical state is not linked to the actuation speed of the foot switch, and the service life of the contacts is improved.
