Ahmedabad: June 27, 2017: Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, is set to acquire a bigger market share in the low voltage electrical products such as MCBs, RCCBs, Distribution Boards, Switches & Sockets across Gujarat, with the company today announcing the launch of its Van Campaign ‘Switch on India’ in Ahmedabad. Under the initiative, Schneider will showcase its range of green low-voltage electrical products in Ahmedabad and engage with local electricians and retailers to generate awareness around safety and efficiency.

The campaign will provide easier access to the company’s products through its retail business and to expand its market outreach across the state. The retail market for low-voltage electrical product is pegged at INR 5,000 crore in India, of which the share of Western India, including Gujarat, is estimated at INR 1300 crore. Increasing urbanisation and an uptick in industrial activity are expected to be the key growth drivers for this market in Gujarat.

The mobile van will display Schneider Electric Final Distribution (FD) and Wiring Devices (WD) products. A total of 8 such vans will travel across different electrical markets in the country, covering close to 100 cities over the next one month. The van will travel across the states of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Kerala.

An initiative in line with the Government’s ‘Smart City Mission’ and ‘Digital India’ initiatives, the presence of this van will facilitate a deeper engagement with the electrician base and the retail network. The campaign will also generate awareness around safety and energy efficiency amongst Schneider Electric’s channel partners.

Flagging off the campaign, Mr. Revanand Andhale, Regional Sales Head, Ahmedabad, Schneider Electric India said, “We are upbeat on our retail plans in Gujarat. This campaign is aligned towards our dedication in generating awareness and train electricians through our commitment towards green India. We are obliged to all our channel partners who will be an integral part of this campaign thereby helping us in reaching out to the suppliers and dealers across the semi-urban markets in Gujarat. We will continue to be the torchbearer in spreading awareness about the importance of safety, standardisation and sustainable solutions for end users.”

Retailers, suppliers and electricians constitute an important part of the value chain of the electrical retail market; an awareness programme aimed to engage them through this campaign will help Schneider Electric add more value to the lives of its end consumers.

Buildings, both residential and commercial - are currently responsible for more than 40% of global energy and one third of global greenhouse gas emissions. The company plans to open training centres in 500 districts across the country and help set up a Centre of Excellence focused on power, solar and automation sectors. It has partnered with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship to cooperate in reducing the huge skilled manpower gap in India's power sector.
